Almost 7 Months Old

I think we are beginning to understand what everyone means about how children grow up fast. It seems Emilia gets bigger, stronger and smarter every day. Once we get her into position, she sits up on her own. She topples over now and then, but braces her own fall and thinks it's funny. She is working on pushing herself up to sitting on her own, but isn't quite there yet.

We can't say she's crawling exactly, but she is definitely mobile! She can scoot, roll and twist her way to anywhere she wants to go. She's a little steamroller! If one of us is in her way she'll try to roll over us. Lately she has been pushing up on to her knees or toes, so it should be any day now.

Emilia is so alert (or as Anne likes to say "nosey"). She has to know what is going on around her, where that noise came from or what that remote control tastes like. Go Go Go. It is a lot of fun to watch her discover the world around her. It seems that once she starts walking and crawling there will be no holding her back.

No teeth yet, but everyone keeps telling us it will be any day with the way she chews on everything. We're not so sure, since she's been chewing on everything for 3 months now :)

Lately she seems to be testing out lots of new sounds. The current favorite is what we like to call the "reverse shriek". She does it when she is happy or excited (often!). It's like a shriek but instead of pushing air out to make the sound, she sucks air in  - if that makes sense. We'll try to capture it on video. It's pretty funny.

Well she just woke up from a short nap and doesn't seem too happy about it. So until next time...
