It's been a pretty quiet month as we enjoy this mild summer weather. We're spending a lot of time outside on the play set or swimming in the pool. Emi wrapped up her first year of preschool and Anne totally got teary at how much she has grown in a few month. She's such a big girl!
We did two months of swimming lessons....and Emi hated each and every lesson. Truthfully I think she just like the attention she got from the instructor for screaming/crying through each lesson. The good news is she was learning in those lessons. By the time the weather warmed up and we got in our pool at home, she was doing all the things she refused to do in the lessons :) As a funny side note, often she would cry that she was afraid she'd "melt". It took us a while to figure out the she means sink :)
Some other funny Emi moments:
As we walked into the gym on a windy day, Emi said, "When I was a little girl in a windstorm, I fell down and got hurt and lost. Then a little girl named Goldilocks helped me get home." Such imagination!
Lately she has been wanting to read from a little rhyming children's bible each night. She was asking lots of questions one night and I told her that the bible is one way that God talks to us. She said, "why, mom? Doesn't He have a voice? We should get him some markers and pencils so he can write to us."
After being particularly mean to her little brother, she looked and Anne and said, " well mommy Santa lives really far away and he doesn't have a phone." I think she's worried I'm going to rat her out.
While looking at a picture of a scientist, Emi said, "Mom he must be an archit...archa...archi...a builder-builder because he draws buildings."...I think she was going for architect.
While looking at some ducks in our front yard, she said, "Hello. This is my brother and my mom and I'm Emi." I guess she was welcoming them to the neighborhood :)
After Emi got in trouble (for I can't remember what) she said, "well if you aren't going to be nice Mommy I'm going to go to my room and wait until Daddy gets home". Have at it kiddo!

She danced around wearing daddy's softball championship shirt, singing, " I got the championship game shirt. He gives it to me. He gives it to me. Because daddy won the championship game!"

If you look closely you'll see she's built a campsite for herself. Lantern, fire (the cones), marshmallows for roasting. Such imagination!

Totally geeked out for the pool! I see the possibility for embarrassing her when she's a teenager :)

They both grabbed books and sat quietly reading. I thought I'd capture the rare moment of peace.

Stretching with daddy before softball.
Matty is so tolerant of his sister. She kept soaking him and he kept laughing.
After finalizing Matty's adoption in court. Our family!
Pretty pretty girl on her last day of school. What a difference a few month's make!
